Those of you who missed actress Deepika Padukone in 2016 have an amazing reason to welcome 2017. Deepika’s Hollywood debut xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will release in India on 14 January, 2017, a week before it will hit screens globally.
Deepika made this announcement on Twitter a short while ago. This announcement is bound to make her fans extremely happy since the diva didn’t have any release this year.
On the other hand, this announcement may have worried the makers of Ok Jaanu and Haraamkhor. Both the movies are slated to release on 13 January and given the buzz xXx has generated, it might eat into the collections of these two movies.
The month of January will also see the clash of two highly talked about movies Raees and Kaabil as well.
Notably, Deepika’s Hollywood debut might be able to break the January jinx of Indian Box Office. It is a common sight that movies don’t make records at the ticket counters in the first week of the New Year. Barring ‘Airlift‘, none of the movies performed well including Farhan Akhtar- Amitabh Bachchan starrer Wazir.
Taking into account the fan-following Deepika has and how cine buffs have been waiting for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage with bated breaths, it won’t be wrong to expect bumper collections.

The actress plays a character named Serena Unger in the upcoming international film, which features Hollywood actor Vin Diesel in the lead role.

Directed by DJ Caruso, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is a sequel to the 2002 film xXx and 2005 film xXx: State of the Union. The film also stars Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.
