Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the upcoming Bollywood movie, Jolly LLB 2 starring Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi, the Bombay High Court on February 6 ordered the deletion of four scenes. The court asserted that the said scenes “defame” the judiciary. The court further said that some of the dialogues should be modified.
It must be noted that the film has been passed by the Censor Board and is all set to hit the theatres on February 10. The producers are now reportedly going to approach the Supreme Court.
Earlier on February 3, SC gave its judgment on the whole issue and refused to put the screening of Jolly LLB 2 on hold. The bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Ashok Bhushan asked the petitioner Fox Star Studios to approach the High Court and advance all its contentions before it.
The Akshay Kumar starrer film, that is all set to hit the theatres on February 10, landed in a legal trouble after a petition was filed by Advocate Ajaykumar S Waghmare, who said that using the word LLB is a deliberate attempt to malign the reputation of the Indian legal profession and thus, asked the makers to remove the word LLB from the film’s title.
According to a report in The Hindu, the petition said,”The characters in the film’s trailer are shown to be playing cards and dancing in court premises which suggest that Akshay’s film has no respect for the judicial profession, discipline, and ethics.”

The petition was first heard at the Bombay High Court on January 24.
Later, the makers of the film approached the Supreme Court regarding the Bombay High Court’s order to review the film in front of a panel before its release and had challenged this decision of the HC, saying that the CBFC had already cleared the film, thus the objection of Bombay HC seems pointless.
Akshay, who was last seen playing a serious and intense role in Rustom, will be seen tickling your funny bones as a lawyer this time. The movie also stars Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla in prominent roles.
