Christopher Nolan’s new film (like most of his other films) has been shrouded in secrecy, and still the under-the-radar hype has been… pretty epic. Things escalated once it was revealed that Twilight heartthrob-turned-indie darling Robert Pattinson had signed on for the film. Now there’s a superb addition to appease Nolan’s fans in India. A press release announcing the title of the new film Tenet has mentioned Dimple Kapadia as a cast member of the potential blockbuster.
A cast comprising Nolan regular Michael Caine, who has appeared in most films barring Dunkirk, will see Kapadia join forces with Robert Pattinson, John Day Washington, Elizabeth Debicki and Lea Seydoux. The murmurs around Tenet have just got louder after Pattinson said, “I’ve been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there’s just something about Chris Nolan’s stuff. He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale. I read the script and it’s unreal.”
The announcement also read that Nolan would be not collaborating with composer Hans Zimmer for the first time since 2008’s The Dark Knight. Tenet will see Nolan collaborate with Ludwig Gorranson, who only recently won an Oscar for his score in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema will shoot the new film, who has been on Nolan’s team since 2014’s Interstellar.
This is Dimple Kapadia’s first Hollywood production, even though she has worked in several English language films like Being Cyrus and Finding Fanny. A film reported to be about ‘international espionage’, one can almost imagine Kapadia holding a glass of scotch in one hand and a gun in the other while playing a femme fatale a la Marion Cotillard in Inception. Unlike Naseeruddin Shah and Anil Kapoor, Kapadia hopefully will not be shortchanged during the film’s final cut. She was last seen in the 2015 Hindi film, Welcome Back.
Tenet is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 17, 2020.
