Guru Purnima 2017 is upon us. Guru Purnima which is the first full moon night is the day when people across the country hail their “Gurus” who contributed immensely in their lives and guided them through the hurdles in life. Because no matter how successful you became in life eventually, there have been some people in your life who stood by you through the process and shaped you to be the person that you are today. Needless to say that it is imperative that your express your gratitude to all the gurus and teachers who shaped your future.

It is believed that the Guru Purnima was celebrated after Yogis started worshipping Sage Ved Vyas recited his collection of 4 Vedas to Lord Vishnu and eventually was blessed by the God. Sage Ved Vyas is known to have authored the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda.

With NASA tweeting out a picture of Guru Purnima, it is evident that the popularity of the day has reached far and wide. NASA tweeted saying that it was the full moon night this weekend which is called Guru Purnima, Hay Moon, Mead Moon, Ripe Corn Moon or the Thunder Moon. The Tweet was retweeted over 6.2K times. Celebrities from the film fraternity and Television also joined the club and revealed who their “Gurus” area while thanking them for their unconditional support.
