After releasing two motion posters of Half Girlfriend, the makers have now revealed the first teaser of the film and it is just disappointing. Helmed by Mohit Suri, the film is an on-screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name.
The teaser video starts with Arjun Kapoor reading the Hindi version of novel Half Girlfriend. The actor can be seen reading the book as his character Madhav Jha, who is a Bihari boy and Arjun Kapoor’s Bihari accent will put all the Bihari’s to shame.
In the video, Arjun tells how he fell in love with Riya and if someone could explain to him what the term Half Girlfriend actually means. But Arjun’s Bihari accent mixed with Punjabi and Hindi is the biggest turn off of the video and will make you cry.
It is very evident in the video that the actor is not able to speak Bihari clearly. Well, if this how Arjun is going to speak the language in the film, then we wonder who will be able to save the film at the box office. Don’t believe us? Watch it for urself.
In case you haven’t read the novel yet, the story is about a small-town Bihari boy Madhav Jha who falls in love with an upper-middle-class Delhi girl Riya Somani, who agrees to be his Half Girlfriend. The film stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. While this is Shraddha’s first film with Chetan, Arjun has collaborated with the writer for the second time, after 2 States.
The film is slated to hit the screens on May 19 this year.
