Golden Globes 2017: Who is the Best Actress of them all?

The 74th Golden Globe Awards are going down this weekend and we cannot wait!

The 74th Golden Globe Awards are going down this weekend and we cannot wait. It is both exciting and kinda nerve-wracking, especially after looking at the nominations for the Best Actress (Drama) category. It already wasn’t easy enough with Amy Adams (Arrival) pitting against Jessica Chastain (Miss Sloane) at the Golden Globes 2017 but then, Natalie Portman’s Jackie Kennedy left us all stunned. Over that, we have Isabelle Huppert for Elle and Ruth Negga for Loving, which makes it so much harder to choose which one’s the best.Natalie Portman Jackie | Image For InUth.com

However, after much contemplation, I think Natalie Portman will take the cake this year as well. Portman already has two Golden Globes to her name; one as Supporting Actress in the 2004 film Closer and another for her brilliant renditions in the psychological thriller Black Swan.

Golden Globes Amy Adams Arrival

Now, Amy Adams and Isabelle Huppert were especially remarkable this year, Portman managed to portray the former First Lady’s gestures, speech, and emotions with such precision that she swept past her competitors. She’s very much to the Golden Globes what Meryl Streep is to the Oscars.

Golden Globes Meryl Streep Florence Foster Jenkins

Speaking of Streep, she has also been nominated for Best Actress. However, lucky for her, she won’t be competing with Portman as she’s landed in the Musical or Comedy category. Even so, she’s up against the likes of Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply), Annette Bening (20th Century Women), Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen). But, quite frankly, her biggest challenge is Emma Stone in La La Land, who is probably going to win it this year.

Golden Globes Emma Stone La La Land

It honestly feels shitty to deem the likes of Meryl Streep as lesser against Natalie Portman and Emma Stone but, let’s call a spade a spade; the young actresses have been doing well lately. Prospects of the Stone’s first Golden Globe look quite bright as her performance has been lauded by critics and audience alike. Stone has been nominated twice before but she has never won at the Globes.
