The Gold House A100 made a list of the most influential Asians, Asian=Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPI), and three Indian-Americans made it to the list. Mindy Kaling, Hasan Minhaj and Lilly Singh have had a phenomenal 12 months and it has powered them into the distinguished list.
Mindy Kaling, who shot to fame with The Mindy Project, has made inroads into the A-list by starring in two big-ticket films: Ocean’s 8 and A Wrinkle In Time. Kaling will next be seen beside Emma Thompson in Amazon’s Late Night, that opened to rave reviews at this year’s Sundance.
After ‘arriving’ at the 2017 White House Correspondent’s Dinner, Hasan Minhaj graduated from being the Daily Show correspondent (alongside Trevor Noah) to being at the helm of his Netflix special, Homecoming King. After that became a hit, it was only natural that Minhaj would go on to do his own Netflix show called Patriot’s Act, that offers a fun analysis of the current affairs. Causing tremors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and covering the Indian elections, Minhaj has delivered a sure-shot hit show that doesn’t compromise on either the intellect or the laughs.
Lilly Singh or ‘Superwoman’ as she’s popularly known by her YouTube fans, has come a long way since filming single-camera videos sitting in her bedroom. Making her way into late night TV, Singh has created history by becoming the first female host.
They’re accompanied by the likes of Korean boy band, BTS, Killing Eve actor Sandra Oh, the cast of Crazy Rich Asians.
