What tickled the funny bones of some and left the others baffled, was the accidental upload of a movie called Khali: The Killer on YouTube, instead of the trailer by Sony Pictures. According to a Hindustan Times report, the mess was first noticed by CBR, and a whole eight hours had passed before Sony Pictures to pull it down.

Written and directed by Jon Matthews, Khali: The Killer has Richard Cabral playing the lead role. IMDB’s summary for the movie says, ‘After deciding to retire, an East L.A. hitman decides to take one last job to help support his ailing grandmother’s end of life care. But everything falls apart when he develops empathy for the targets of his hit, and he’s forced to make the toughest decision of his life.’
The blunder sent the netizens into a frenzy. As per the CBR report, the accidental upload invited some hilarious comments and jokes- ‘Trailer gave the whole plot away. Pass’, ‘It’s just the trailer the whole movie will be 4 hours’. After which, some YouTube comments began to wonder if this ‘accident’ was marketing stunt. Others began to wonder about the future of the employee, responsible for this monumental gaffe.
In an era of unique and out-of-the-box PR campaigns (see: Deadpool 2?), it’s but natural to doubt the credibility of Sony’s ‘mistake’. However, the fact that the movie, whether intentionally or unintentionally, has received a large chunk of media attention and publicity cannot be denied.
