Wherever she goes, she whips up a firestorm! Featuring on The View for the second time (this time as a co-host), Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, America’s new sweetheart has proven yet again that she is just as smart as she is beautiful.
The 34-year-old star is gaining popularity as the lead of ABC’s crime drama thriller series Quantico. The show has already taken a dig at United States President Donald Trump by introducing a female President. PeeCee, who usually tiptoes around US politics has been breaking her silence of late. First on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and now, on The View, Priyanka has refused to talk about Trump so as to not get in trouble with her visa. It is pretty clear then that she has nothing good to say about the man.
Priyanka also revealed that her show, Quantico, will feature several other real life instances in the upcoming episodes like the immigration ban and the Women’s March. It is subtle but we see hints of a Clinton supporter in Chopra. But we don’t blame her for not opening up about it. Better safe than deported.
As the conversation moved on to pregnancies and “unideal” body types, her co-host on The View, Joy Behar, popped the question, “Is that your original nose?” To this, Priyanka sarcastically replied, “Yes, this is my original nose!” Her response left everyone in splits.
Priyanka said, “Before I became an actor, I met a producer about the possibility of acting. I was a beauty pageant winner at that time, Miss World. And he said that everything was wrong about me,” which shocked everyone at the table. “He said my nose was not proportionate, the shape of my body was not proportionate.”
There is such a false perception of what women should look like and what our bodies should look like. Especially when you are in the business, you put on a couple of pounds and people are like… body shaming you. It happens. Christmas happens to all of us. I’m Indian. I have Diwali, I have Holi. I have like a hundred holidays and my body fluctuates and I am fine with it.
Later in the show, Priyanka Chopra also met Oscar-nominated actor Dev Patel and Saroo Brierley, whose true story inspired the film, Lion. It was great to see her have a conversation with another actor of Indian-origin, making it big in the west.
It is so very exciting to see her represent India internationally in a manner that is respectable and true. Her date for the night was Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra (which is ironic because her outfit was awful).
Although Quantico has not been doing well lately, Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming film Baywatch is set to be a huge hit, being based on the popular TV show. The film releases on May 26 and also stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
