It’s only been a few days since stills of Dimple Kapadia were ‘leaked’ from the sets of Tenet, and now reports suggest that Shabana Azmi is westbound as a part of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s TV adaptation of Halo on Showtime. According to Deadline, Azmi will be playing the role of Admiral Margaret Parangosky, the head of the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Having starred in several crossover productions helmed by frequent collaborators Deepa Mehta and Mira Nair, this is Azmi’s first franchise project. She has previously starred in a British series called Good Karma Hospital.
Joining Azmi is the show’s ensemble cast are the following actors: Natascha McElhone (Californication), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Natasha Culzac (The Witcher) and Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe).
Having sold more than 77 million copies worldwide and grossed an approximate $60 billion in sales, Halo became a global phenomenon shortly after its launch in 2001. The show is rumoured to be taking place in the 26th century with a conflict between humanity and an alien threat called The Covenant.
Adapted from XBox’s blockbuster game, the production of the series is slated to begin later this year in Budapest, and the show is scheduled for release in the first quarter in 2021.
With both Dimple Kapadia and Shabana Azmi starring in high-profile projects, it could be suggested that Hollywood seems to be doing something Indian films/filmmakers seem to be struggling with. Come up with satisfactory parts for such fine actors. Let’s hope both these projects make use of their talent in plenty.
