If Berlin wall can come down, Why can’t India and Pakistan be friends: Rishi Kapoor

Rishi Kapoor talked about burying the hatchet and stressed on the need to build trust and better relations between India and Pakistan

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has appealed for peace and cordial relations between India and Pakistan. In an interview to a Pakistani News Channel, the 64 year old actor talked about burying the hatchet and stressed on the need to build trust and better relations between the two countries.

He said his father (Raj Kapoor) was born in Peshawar British India but after partition he never got a chance to visit Pakistan. He also said that he had visited Islambad once for a film shooting but expressed doubt whether he would ever be able to visit Pakistan again. The Kapoor and sons actor also said that in Germany the Berlin wall was brought down, apartheid was abolished in South Africa, communism was abdicated from USSR, what stops India and Pakistan from becoming friends. We speak nearly same languages, our food and clothes are same. Every Pakistani I have met across the world have always treated me with love and affection. He also said that he does not know much about politics but this negativity needs to end.

However, Kapoor’s recent tweets may not be in sync with the love he perpetuated for Pakistan in the interview. The actor has long, complex and often fractious history of engaging with Tweeples from Pakistan. Very recently, his comments on Pakistan during Champions trophy stoked a Twitter outrage on Pakistani side.

After Pakistan defeated England to enter Finals, Kapoor trolled Pakistan with this Tweet on June 14

Congratulations Pakistan! You enter finals? Wow! Good to see you wearing our colour BLUE! Get ready to be BLUED now! We will BLUE you away!

The Chandni actor took to Twitter after India defeated Bangladesh on June 15

We don’t need to say anything more! Tradition of destroying the opposition,as has always been the case, will continue! Blues are invincible! pic.twitter.com/q2IBs3zSdw

He then mocked Pakistan Cricket Board with a derogatory tweet

PCB. Cricket team bhejna please.Earlier Hockey ya Kho Kho team bhejin thin. Kyon ki 18th June(Fathers Day) Baap khel raha tumhare saath lol!

After backlash from Pakistni side, Kapoor went a step further asked Pakistanis to stop exporting terror

Achcha choddo yaar. Tum log Jeeton aur hazaaron Baar jeeton sirf Terrorism bandh kar do yaar. Mujhe haar manzoor hai. We want peace and love

— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) June 15, 2017

However, he was gracious enough to concede defeat

Yes Pakistan, you have defeated us. Well played, outplayed us in all departments. Many congratulations, I concede. Best wishes!

His other Tweets on Pakistan

However, he has also Tweeted in favour of playing Pakistani players in Indian Premiere league
