Aamir Khan’s Dangal became one of the biggest blockbusters of 2015 and took Box Office by a storm. After scripting history in India, the movie is all slated to release in the neighbouring country of China today. Fresh reports suggest that Wanda, the biggest theatre chain in China, has allocated few screens to the blockbuster and has made fans angry.
According to a report in India Today, Wanda has over 1657 screens across the country and has only given 37 to Dangal. This number comes to a little over 2 percent of the total count. In Beijing, the capital of China, Wanda gave only three shows to Dangal today and not one single show tomorrow.
This decision by Wanda would definitely cost a lot to Dangal in terms of money. The chain accounted for one-sixth of the total Box Office collection in the country in 2015. It has made way for anger among the fans who were desperately waiting for the movie to the screen.
“I am so confused why Dangal is not being shown in every cinema and why there are so few schedules. What matters is that cinemas in my city does not show this film, neither does Wanda. Aamir Khan’s films are very good and very meaningful, why do cinemas not show them?” a user reportedly wrote on the website.

“There are no screenings in Taian [Shandong] because of Wanda. How can Wanda develop with such a small mindset?” asked another user.
While nothing can be said about the reason behind this decision, some said that maybe it was because of the sour relations between India and China. While few others have asserted that maybe it is because of Wanda’s rivalry with Huayi, a company involved in the marketing of Dangal.

Dangal will still release across 9,000 screens making it one of the widest releases in the country. Aamir Khan spent a lot of time in China recently and went to cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. He interacted with a lot of fans there. It is left to be seen how Dangal fares at the Box Office in China.
