Months after Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s meeting with BJP chief Amit Shah raised eyebrows, the actor might now contest the upcoming elections. According to sources, Madhuri has been shortlisted by party to contest from the Pune Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 elections.
“The party is in the process of finalising the list of probables for several Lok Sabha seats and Dixit’s name has been shortlisted for the Pune Lok Sabha constituency…she is being seriously considered for it,” a party leader said, reports PTI.
However, no official statement has been made either by the party or Madhuri Dixit as of now.
The 51-year-old actor, who was a sensation during in the nineties, has featured in many Bollywood films, including Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dil To Pagal Hai, Saajan and Devdas. In June, she met Amit Shah and industrialist and chairman of Tata Trust Ratan Tata at her residence. The meeting was a part of the party’s outreach campaign, ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ (contact for support).Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve and Education Minister Vinod Tawde were also a present during the meeting.
