The 2015 Malayalam film Lailaa O Lailaa is touted as one of the biggest disasters of Mohanlal’s acting career. Written by Suresh Nair and directed by Joshy, the action-thriller also starred an ensemble star cast including Sathyaraj, Amala Paul, Kainaat Arora, Ramya Nambeeshan, Joy Mathew and Rahul Dev. Lailaa O Lailaa, which had released on the summer vacation in Kerala tanked without a trace at the Box Office.
However, not many are aware of the fact that writer Suresh Nair had written the script of Lailaa O Lailaa keeping Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in mind.
Interestingly, the script of Lailaa O Lailaa was ready in 2012 and Akshay Kumar was supposed to do the film. Suresh Nair had earlier collaborated with the Bollywood superstar in his super hit films like Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng and the 2016 blockbuster Airlift.
However, the Rustom actor, who had had 5 consecutive releases in 2012; Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Oh My God and Khiladi 786, couldn’t get the time to start the project on time. This forced the writer to offer the script to Mohanlal. The Malayalam superstar, who was filming his 2013 film, Ladies And Gentleman listened to the complete script in one time itself and agreed to do the film.
Unfortunately for Mohanlal, Lailaa O Lailaa, which opened on a strong note on its opening day crashed out completely on its second day itself at the Box Office. The film was dubbed and released in Tamil as Murugave and in Telugu as Iddaru Iddare and turned out be huge failures there as well.
