Aamir Khan has done it again. With his latest release Dangal, he has not only taken the box-office by storm and surpassed the collections of Salman Khan’s Sultan, but the Bollywood superstar has also shattered the lifetime collections of his 2014 blockbuster and all-time Bollywood grosser PK at the Kerala Box Office.
The wrestling drama, which was released on 23 December on a strong note, took the Kerala Box Office on fire by becoming the first Bollywood film to touch Rs 20 lakh on a single day. The film has escalated past Rajinikanth blockbuster Kabali and Mohanlal-starrer Puli Murugan to become the fastest Rs 2 crore grosser at the Cochin multiplexes alone.
And now, Dangal has created a history by emerging as the first Bollywood film to cross Rs 10 crore mark at the Kerala Box Office. Interestingly, it is his own movie PK that Aamir Khan has unseated. While PK grossed Rs 9.50 crore in its entire Kerala lifetime theatrical run, Dangal has already minted Rs 10.50 at the Box Office. The film is rock steady, especially at the multiplexes, and is all set to cross the Rs 12 crore mark by the end of the third weekend.
The lack of new Malayalam releases, owing to the ongoing strike between Malayalam film distributors and theater owners, has worked in Dangal’s favour. Tamil superstar Suriya-starrer S3, the third film in the Singham franchise, won’t hit the theatres before the Republic Day.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and jointly produced by Aamir Khan and Siddharth Roy Kapur, Dangal is based on the true story of former wrestler-turned-coach, Mahavir Singh Phogat. The sports-drama also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima, Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar.
