The moment South superstar Mohanlal made it official that he will play the role of Bhima on screen, his fans went crazy. The actor will play the epic character in the on-screen adaptation of MT Vasudevan Nair’s novel Randamoozham and speculations were rife that many Bollywood celebs will also be a part of the project.
Ace ad filmmaker and director N A Shrikumar Menon, who earlier said that talks with Amitabh Bachchan are on to play the role of Bhishma, has now confirmed that Big B is very much a part of the multi-lingual project.
In fact, it was also being said that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached for the film as well, but the filmmaker clarified that the actress has nothing to do with the project. If rumours are to be believed than many other Bollywood celebs have also been approached for many prominent roles in the film.
Randamoozham (The Second Turn), based on a 1984 novel by MT, is a retelling of the Indian epic Mahabharat from the perspective of Bhima, the second of the Pandava princes. Shrikumar said the film will be in two parts with a budget of Rs 700 crore-Rs 800 crore, thus making it the most expensive film to be made.
The film will be shot in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and English and dubbed in all Indian languages and some foreign languages. Several academy award-winning technicians will also be roped in for the film, shooting for which will begin by 2018 end.
This is Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan’s third on-screen collaboration after Major Ravi’s Kandahar and Ram Gopal Varma’s Aag. Though both the films didn’t prove to be a box office success, our aspirations are really high with this one.
