It’s a good news for Mammootty’s upcoming film, The Great Father. The Dileep starrer, Georgettan’s Pooram, which was scheduled to be released a day after the release of The Great Father has been postponed by one-day. The Great Father is scheduled to hit the screens of 30 March 2017 whereas the Dileep film was initially slated to be released on 31 March.
And now, the makers of Georgettan’s Pooram have decided to release their comic entertainer on 1 April 2017.
The actual reason for the sudden change in the release date of Georgettan’s Pooram has not yet revealed, but there are reports that the makers have decided to postpone the film due to the tremendous buzz over the Mammootty film.
The one-day-delay in the release of Georgettan’s Pooram will definitely prove beneficial for The Great Father as the Malayalam megastar film will now enjoy two solo theatrical days at the Kerala Box Office. Also, the film is undoubtedly Mammootty’s most hyped film in recent times.
Written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, The Great Father has been produced by August Cinema – a joint production of Malayalam actor Prithviraj, director Santhosh Sivan, Tamil actor Arya and producer Shaji Nadeshan. The Great Father also marks the third Malayalam outing of Arya after Urumi and Double Barrel. The film will feature Mammootty in the titular role of David Nainan Vedippara, while Arya will be seen in the role of Andrews Eapen Umbakkal – a character with shades of grey.
Meanwhile, Georgettan’s Pooram will be Janapriyanayakan’s first release after his second marriage to the popular Malayalam actress, Kavya Madhavan. Directed by K Biju and jointly produced by Arun Gosh, Bijoy Chandran and Shivanee Suraj, the film also marks the second cinema outing of this year’s Kerala State Award winning actress, Rajisha Vijayan of Anuraga Karikkin Vellamfame. Georgettan’s Pooram also stars an ensemble cast including Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen, renji Panicker and Assim Jamal.
