Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s third Bollywood outing, Naam Shabana released this Friday. Directed by Shivam Nair of Bollywood film Bhaag Johnny fame, the action thriller starred the Malayalam actor in the main antagonist role, Tony.
Written and produced by Bollywood director Neeraj Pandey, the film is a spin-off to his 2015 thriller Baby. The opening day collections of Naam Shabana are out and the fans of young Malayalam superstar has reasons to rejoice.
Naam Shabana has collected Rs. 5.12 crore on its opening day and did a business fo Rs 6.37 on Saturday, which is decent considering the genre of the film, a heroine-oriented film. The presence of Prithviraj had helped the film to record collections in Kerala while the star power of Akshay Kumar boosted the film’s collection to a large extend across the North India. The film also emerged as Prithviraj’s biggest opener in Bollywood. The actor’s first two Bollywood releases, Yash Raj films’ Aiyya and Aurangzeb were washouts from day one at the Box Office.
Naam Shabana stars Taapsee Pannu in the titular role of Shabana Khan. The film also stars Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Akshay Kumar in a cameo as a lead of the RAW operation, Ajay Singh Rajput.
However, the reports of Naam Shabana are mixed as few section of the audience are disappointed with the plot of the film, especially in the second half. Naam Shabana rides on Baby‘s brand value and it’s the writing of Neeraj Pandey in the second plays the spoilsport. As per audience, Naam Shabana’s climax lacks the thrill of the former.
