Seems like there is no stopping for Mohanlal’s blockbuster film Pulimurugan at the Kerala Box Office. The 3D version of the film which had released on Saturday, July 22, has opened to an excellent response across the cinemas of Kerala. Though the 3D version gets only limited number of screens in Kerala, it didn’t stop the Lalettan starrer to continue minting money at the Kerala Box Office.
Pulimurugan 3D was expected to hit the screens on Friday, July 21, but later released on Saturday citing technical issues. However, within a 2-day opening weekend, it has minted Rs 50 lakh at the Kerala, which is said to be a massive figure considering the film was a re-release in Kerala. Also, it has to be noted that the original version, which had released in 2016 Dusshera ran for more than 200 theatrical days in Gods own country.
This is for the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema that a 2D film is being converted to 3D for a re-release. In fact, Indian cinema’s first 3D film, the 1984 Malayalam blockbuster My Dear Kuttichathan too re-released in Kerala, but it was entirely shot in 3D.
