The Supreme Court will hear the plea of the makers of Jolly LLB 2 against the Bombay High Court order on Friday. The HC had earlier set up a panel to review the film before it released after a lawyer raised objections about the same. The petitioner claimed the Akshay Kumar starrer showed Indian judicial system and lawyers in a bad light. Post this, the Aurangabad bench of the High Court appointed amicus curiae (friends of a court) to review the film. The two lawyers R. N. Dhorde and V. J. Dixit, were asked to see the film on Wednesday and submit their reports on Friday.
Now the makers have challenged this decision of the Bombay High Court in the higher court. They told the apex court that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has already cleared the film and thus the objection of Bombay HC seems pointless. Senior advocate A.M. Singhvi, the representative of Fox Star Studios, told the court asking a review of the film is not permissible by the law.

The lawyer, Ajaykumar Waghmare, who raised objections against the film trailer requested the court to ask the makers to drop LLB from the title. He also wished scenes which showed lawyers playing cards in the court premises and another that depicted the judge hiding under the dais be deleted from the movie. In his petition, he pointed that freedom of expression had some boundaries when it came to contempt of court.
Now let us see what the apex court decides on this matter.

Helmed by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LLB 2 features Akshay in the role of a lawyer. The trailer has already created a buzz and it is hoped that the film will bring to light, the problems faced by the judicial system. Also starring Huma Qureshi and Annu Kapoor, Jolly LLB 2 is slated for a release on 10 February.
