In an age, when taking up a ‘cool challenge’ has become an Internet fad, actor Siddharth has tried to turn this obsession into a good cause. The actor goaded the public to donate for the Kerala floods by starting the #KeralaDonationChallenge.
The Rang De Basanti actor threw down the gauntlet by donating a sum of Rs 10 lakh towards the cause. He put up a picture of a receipt of his donation along with a compelling letter, pleading support and action towards the rehabilitation of the state, whose 12 districts are affected by floods.
I dare you. I beg of you!
What do I have to do to make you read and share this?
I did the #KeralaDonationChallenge
It was awesome!
Will you? Please?#KeralaFloods#SaveKerala@CMOKerala pic.twitter.com/9RmMjSKVBC

A part of the letter read, “I am pained by the lack of adequate attention being given to this situation. It reminds me of a similar apathy displayed by the national media during devastating Tamil Nadu floods of 2015. Please post your donation proof online if you wish to inspire others. Let us call this the #KeralaDonationChallenge. We all know how much the internet loves a challenge,” taking a dig at the recent Kiki Challenge.
For the uninitiated, Kerala has seen an unnatural amount of rainfall in the past two weeks, which has caused widespread flooding and devastation. It’s only in the past two days after celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, AR Rahman and Amitabh Bachchan started tweeting about the issue, did the coverage improve on the national channels.
Apart from Siddharth, many actors like Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Suriya, Allu Arjun, among others have already donated to the cause.
The Internet rose up to the occasion and took the actor’s challenge and posted proof –
Forget #KikiChallenge
Lets do #KeralaDonationChallenge
Believe me,its awesome
