Child artiste Ashnoor Kaur may be busy with her TV shows and film commitments, but that didn’t stop her from studying hard for her boards and acing her exams. Kaur has scored 93% in the CBSE class 10 board exams, exceeding her own expectations.
According to TOI, the 15-year-old said, “I was expecting 90% but when I got to know that I have scored 93%, it was like the icing on the cake. I was quite nervous but when I saw my result, I shouted at the top of my voice with excitement. My mother who was also there with me had tears in her eyes and since then everyone on the sets has been congratulating me.”
The actor who plays the lead role, Mini Khuranna, on Patiala Babes on Sony Entertainment Television, made her debut in Bollywood last year with Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju as the young Priya Dutt. She was also seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan where she played Taapsee Pannu’s character’s sister.
Speaking about how she managed her hectic schedule, Kaur mentioned how she would wake up as early as 5:30am and sneak in study sessions in her makeup room before shooting started, “It was hectic to manage and remember dialogues along with my studies. I would always study in my makeup room and also wake up at 5.30am and study before leaving for sets. My teachers had also told me that I could take extra classes from them and clear doubts if any. I had the support of my school, parents and the production team of my show for my studies.”
Kaur also wrote on her Instagram about wanting to break stereotypes associated with child actors having to sacrifice their education for their work, “People have the stereotype that child actors won’t be good at studies, and I wanted to break this stereotype!! When everyone had a full month study leave in Feb, I was shooting the entire month, when everyone had 5-7 days before one exam, I had a mere 2-3 days… Shooting for 12 hours with heavy scenes, studying while travelling the car, going back home and studying till 1:30am(sometimes even 2:30am) and getting up next morning again around 5:30am, study, get ready and leave for shoot… Also studying on sets, between shots.. And that’s how MY HARDWORK DID PAY OFF!”
Kaur has already decided her future academic and career path, “I am planning to study Commerce. It is a stream that has many avenues. I have always been passionate about both. I know if I join acting as a full-fledged career in the future, then that will take place only after my studies.”
