Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography Khullam Khulla is being talked about by people after few excerpts of the book were released. In one of the excerpts, Rishi admitted to buying awards for his debut film Bobby. Now another revelation from the book has started conversations, one in which he confessed to having a tea with Dawood Ibrahim, the dreaded don of Mumbai. In one of the chapters of the book, Chintu Kapoor recalled the incident of their meeting in Dubai.
It was in the year 1988 that the D-Company founder invited Rishi Kapoor for dinner. The actor said that since it all happened before the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, he didn’t find it wrong to accept his invitation. Rishi revealed that he was taken to an undisclosed location where he and Dawood spoke for hours over tea. The don, who is now on most-wanted list by Indian administration, told Rishi he carried out petty thefts and only got people killed. Dawood, according to Rishi, accepted to not killing someone on his own.
After that, Rishi met Dawood again in 1989 when he was shopping with wife Neetu Singh Kapoor in Dubai. Talking about this, Rishi said Dawood was surrounded by eight to ten bodyguards. On meeting Rishi, Dawood offered him to buy anything he wanted.

In his book Rishi wrote:
Finally Dawood said, ‘I am a fugitive because I will not get justice in India. There are a lot of people there who are against me. There are also many in India I have bought. I pay several politicians who are in my pocket.’ I said to him, ‘Dawood, please leave me out of all this, yaar. I am an actor and I really don’t wish to get involved.
Apart from his runs with Dawood Ibrahim, Rishi revealed a lot in his book. In one of the chapters, Rishi expressed his disdain for legendary actress Vyjayanthimala. Rishi’s mother Krishna Raj Kapoor, moved out of her house on learning about her husband’s affair with Vyjayanthimala. The young son held a grudge against the actress when she denied the affair.

Rishi Kapoor also wrote amazing things about his co-star Amitabh Bachchan. However, he pointed out one habit of Big B which he disliked. He said after a movie’s success, Amitabh ensured to thank everyone from scriptwriters to other members of the crew but refrained from saying anything about his co-stars. Rishi said this sometimes hurt Amitabh’s peers.
In Khullam Khulla, Rishi Kapoor spoke about Bollywood’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna. Since Dimple Kapadia debuted with him in Bobby, he was possessive about her. But when she married Rajesh Khanna she opted out of 10 films. So when he signed her for Sagar, he had a word with Rajesh Khanna.

Rishi also spoke about his quest with depression post-Karz when many of his movies flopped. He said the failure not only made him lose confidence but he also blamed his new marriage with Neetu Singh for his falling graph.
The book indeed has a lot to offer to both cine lovers and book sniffers.
