Baahubali 2 changed the landscape of Indian film industry and placed it at par with Hollywood productions as the film shattered all records at the Box Office. Ever since the release of the epic saga, the trade pundits have started placing big bets on Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead. People within the industry are hopeful that the science fiction film would live up to the mammoth hype and growing expectations.
In an interview with us for the promotions of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, when asked if the expectations from 2.0 put an additional pressure on him, Akshay said,
“I don’t think so far. I don’t take any pressure. I can’t talk about the film as my contract will get cancelled. The only thing I can say is, I am playing a negative character in the film.”
The actor further stated that comparisons with other films and film-stars doesn’t make him anxious.
“It doesn’t put me on toes,” said Akshay.

While many consider regional as well as international film industries to be a threat, Akshay believes that success of films from other film industries proves that good films work at the Box Office. He said,
“It is not threatening, but it is more like we can see something new from their side. Even Bollywood films release down South, but they have never seen us as a threat. It is just that, good films work.”

Directed by Shankar, 2.0 is slated to release during the Republic Day 2018 weekend. The film, also starring Amy Jackson in lead, is made on a humongous budget of Rs 350 crore. The makers of the film have promised a unique and enthralling experience for the viewers of Indian films.
