Padman: A peek at the roles Amitabh Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor will be playing in Akshay Kumar's film

After touching various important issues through his movies, Akshay Kumar is all set to do the same again. With Padman, Akshay Kumar aims to bring to notice the story of a man whose motive was to make sanitary napkins affordable for women across India. This R.Balki directorial marks the production venture of Twinkle Khanna. Apart from Akshay, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte play important roles in the movie. The star cast of the movie just got better as Amitabh Bachchan has joined it and is doing a cameo.

Big B has been a constant in all R. Balki’s films and started shooting in Delhi. While Padman has created a lot of buzz, here are few details about the characters of the film.

It is not hidden that Padman is inspired from one of the chapters of The Legend Of Laxmi Prasad penned by Twinkle Khanna. The chapter titled ‘The Sanitary Man From A Sacred Land’ is the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a college drop-out, who had a wish to enable rural women to practice safe menstruation habits.

But Padman’s journey to turn his dream into reality waa not an easy one. He met people who left no opportunity to bring him down. One such man was Dr Gupta, a role that is reported that Amitabh Bachchan would be essaying. The chapter from the book gives away details about Bablu’s (the protagonist-Padman) encounter with Dr Gupta. On their first meeting, Dr Gupta looked down upon Bablu as the former was prepping up for a lecture. While Dr Gupta was due to give the presentation on insulin resistance and C-Peptide, he mistook Bablu to be an office boy.

However, Dr Gupta was schooled by Bablu soon when the latter gave him an important lesson. Bablu explained to the Dr that one is not called intelligent if the complicate things. Instead, the young innovator explained, the task of an intelligent man is to make complicated things easier.

It would be interesting to see how Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar play out these roles.

Apart from Amitabh Bachchan,  here are insights about Sonam Kapoor’s role as well. She apparently plays the role of an English teacher in the movie whom Akshay’s character approaches. After giving many presentations, Bablu realised that he needed to learn the language to put his pint across more people.
