As Barack Obama delivered his final address as the President of the United States, people from across the globe bid an emotional farewell to the beloved President. On Tuesday, Obama expressed his gratitude towards his country for helping build a better nation. His address has left everyone in tears. Bollywood (and of late, Hollywood) actress Priyanka Chopra too acknowledged the President’s legacy through an Instagram post.
The Quantico star shared a photo as she watched Obama’s final address and captioned it, “What an incredible legacy.. #FarewellAddress #Obamas.” The President will be leaving as President-elect Donald Trump assumes office on January 20. Speaking of Trump, his election probably makes the end of Obama’s tenure even sadder given the stark contrast between the two politicians.

Priyanka Chopra has always been a follower of Obama (just like her character Alex Parrish on the ABC drama thriller series Quantico) and has been interested in the United States politics. Even during the recent Presidential elections, although she didn’t side with a candidate, she motivated the US citizens to go out and vote for their choice.

Now, although Priyanka claims to have her life out there and her life back here at home balanced, it does seem weird that she not so enthusiastic about Indian politics. She can argue that the US governance affects us as well but, not more so than our own. The busy-bee of Bollywood never seems to have time to discuss matters of India anymore. The last time I remember her taking an interest in a national cause was Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. On the other hand, she could very much squeeze in going to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with the Obamas last year.
She was recently named the tourism brand ambassador for Assam but, what does that compare to being the Global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador? Is she slowly turning into an American just like her accent suggest? The question is, has our desi girl become parayi? Already her face has been disappearing from Bollywood as she can’t dedicate as much time to it like she used to which is disappointing for her fans. The only upcoming film she has is Baywatch which is again, a Hollywood film. It started off with acting, now it’s politics, next thing you know she’s moving out of here to never turn back! If you want to break-up with us, just say it, Priyanka. This cold cut-out is pretty harsh!
