Hold onto your tough titties tightly because Priyanka Chopra is producing a feature film on Ma Anand Sheela, Osho’s notoriously-reputed right hand woman, and PeeCee will be starring in it as well!
The world got hooked to Ma Sheela’s mantra “tough titties” after watching the Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country that explored how Osho’s cult took over a small town in America almost overnight. And now, PeeCee has revealed at the Ellen DeGeneres show that she’s developing a film on the woman who has been marked as the real brains behind everything effed up about the whole cult.
“We’re developing it as the character of Sheela, who was this guru who originated from India, his right-hand woman. And she was just devious and created a whole cult in America, brought people here,” Priyanka said on the show while talking about her future work after Isn’t It Romantic? releases.
Oscar-winning director, Barry Levinson, of Rain Man, Bugsy, and Good Morning, Vietnam fame, will be directing the as of yet untitled film. Osho, AKA Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s personal assistant, Ma Sheela, was convicted of poisoning an entire town, arson, illegally wire-tapping at the commune the cult lived in, among other crimes. She was sentenced to three 20-year terms in federal prison, but was released and moved to Switzerland after serving only 39 months of it for her good behaviour. The now-69-year-old Ma Sheela still lives somewhere in Switzerland.
As of now, it’s not clear if Priyanka will be portraying Ma Sheela’s character, but it makes sense for her to keep such a deliciously dark role for herself. As for us, we cannot wait for this movie to happen sooner than soon. It will be a treat to watch Priyanka portray such a baddie!
