The much-awaited trailer of upcoming film Jolly LLB 2 was unveiled on Monday, creating an instant buzz on the social media. As the name suggests, the film is a sequel to the 2013 flick Jolly LLB starring Arshad Warsi playing a lawyer. This time, it is Akshay Kumar’s turn to don the black coat and defend his client in a courtroom.
While my peers, some of whom happen to be Akshay Kumar fans, went gaga over their favourite star’s latest avatar, I chose to remain quiet. Sipping a cup of coffee I pondered over how a struggling martial arts trainer from Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area dabbled as a waiter in Bangkok before becoming one of India’s leading superstar.

Also, instead of being typecast as someone playing the same set of roles over the years (no pun intended), he has played versatile characters in his 25-year-old career. Be it the tough cop Karan Joglekar in Main Khiladi Tu Anari, an eccentric professor in Sangharsh, a psychiatrist in Bhool Bhulaiyaa or antagonist Dr Richard in forthcoming Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, Akshay is known for essaying different characters in his films.
The onset of the 2000s ushered in a new change in Akshay’s career as he began to opt for challenging roles rather than the cliche ones. Till then, he was largely seen as an action hero who would bash up baddies single-handedly. For example, Mohra, Sabse Bada Khiladi and so on. His association with Priyadarshan saw him venture into playing comic characters in films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Welcome and many more.

Since then, he has donned almost every profession in his career. Be it a conman in Special 26, male escort in Desi Boyz, army man in Holiday, gangster in Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara and contractor in Khatta Meetha. Not to forget, he even played Lord Krishna in Oh My God! and fought his own brother as a wrestler in Brothers.
Known for his patriotism, Akshay also played a fearless RAW agent in Baby, who leads a mission to covertly extradite a wanted terrorist from Dubai to India. Early this year, he successfully airlifted thousands of Indian nationals stranded in Kuwait in Airlift.

Now, he is playing a lawyer in Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB 2. We do have our own wishlist for him to don the following role in his forthcoming movies. How about these?
