Sameera Reddy’s Underwater Maternity Photoshoot Is All About Body-Positivity

The actor has also started a campaign #imperfectlyperfect in an attempt to target the stereotypical beauty standards.

An actress being trolled, rather being attacked on social media, for gaining weight has, unfortunately, become a regular thing. Sameera Reddy, an actor who has starred in various Hindi, Tamil and Telegu films, is the latest to be at the receiving end. Sameera, who is expecting her second child, was lately targeted by trolls online for posting a picture in bikini flaunting her baby bump.
But what set the social media talking is her unwillingness to bow down and go an extra mile by posting pictures of an underwater photoshoot sporting a neon bikini and flaunting her nine-month baby bump.
“I wanted to celebrate the beauty of the bump in my 9th month. At a time when we feel the most vulnerable, tired, scared, excited and at our biggest and most beautiful! I look forward to sharing it with you guys and I know the positivity will resonate because we all are at different phases of our lives with unique sizes and we need to love and accept ourselves at every level #imperfectlyperfect.” she wrote in an Instagram post.

The actor has also started a campaign #imperfectlyperfect in an attempt to target the stereotypical beauty standards.
In a series of Instagram posts, she spoke about body positivity and the struggle she went through after putting on weight after having the first baby in 2015. She said that she had gained 102 kg and how she struggled to shed the post-pregnancy weight and how it, in turn, affected her confidence.
“I touched 102 Kgs in May 2015, the month Hans was born and I’m not scared to admit it.. My confidence shattered. And I couldn’t lose the weight for a year after because I was too scared to even step out. I disappeared because I didn’t have the strength to be judged by the world after all the years of being glam and fit on screen. But the beautiful part is that you can only hit your lowest low to know you can absolutely climb out of that hole. It’s a fight . A hard one. Took me 2 years more to lose the weight and to step out and face the world again but I wish I had the courage then,” she wrote in the post.

Earlier, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was trolled after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya, because she was looking ‘huge’.
In an interview with film critic Rajeev Masand, she said, “I was able to handle it because I have faced judgement for so long.”
Actor Neha Dhupia also recently took upon a media outlet which fat-shamed her for her post-pregnancy weight
“I don’t owe anyone an explanation because fat-shaming like this doesn’t bother me one bit. But I do want to address this as a larger problem because fat-shaming needs to stop for EVERYONE not just celebs. As a new mom I want to be fit, healthy and energetic for my daughter.” she wrote in a social media post.

These lines from one of Sameera Reddy’s posts is perhaps an apt reply to such fat-shaming and trolls: Her soul was too deep to explore by those who always swam in the shallow end.
