Singer Sonu Nigam is making headlines these days for his controversial tweets on the use of loudspeakers in holy shrines. Recently, Sonu posted a series of tweets in which he talked about being woken up by the morning azaan and said, ”When will this forced religiousness end in India.”
As soon as he expressed his views on the social media, his posts went viral like mad fire and the singer started getting a lot of flak from people all around the world. In fact, the singer was trolled mercilessly on the social media. So and so that many took the google maps screenshot and clarified that there is no mosque within 2 km from his house and called it all a publicity stunt.
While many took a jibe at Sonu for his remarks on azaan, other came out in support of the singer and said that his message has been misinterpreted. But the entire film industry stands divided on the whole issue. Filmmaker Pooja Bhatt and music composer Wajid Khan are among the few who criticized the singer, while actress Richa Chadha and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri extended their support to Sonu.
But despite all this, the singer took to his Twitter again and wrote that he stands by his statement and people are taking it in a wrong way. He also said that it was only about the loudspeakers and not the azaan. And with all the controversy only getting heated up, a FIR has been filed against Sonu Nigam in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. Here’s a look at the official copy of the FIR:
Well, not only this, the controversy took a complete u-turn when the Twitterati mistook Sonu Sood for Sonu Nigam and started trolling the actor. Well, we really hope things get better soon and Sonu Nigam gets a chance to clarify his statement.
