Standing by his words, singer Sonu Nigam shaved his head after a fatwa issued by Vice President of West Bengal Minority United Council Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi. Sonu called celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim, who shaved his head in front of the press.

Sonu addressed a press conference at his residence in Mumbai on April 19 and decided to answer every question about his tweets controversy. He said to media persons, “the aim was not to hurt anyone. It was meant to be taken positively, but people misunderstood me. To be precise, Ahmed Patel said what I wanted to say in a better way. He said: Azaan is important not the loudspeaker.”

Earlier, Sonu Nigam expressed his angst over the use of loudspeakers for religious purposes on Twitter. In a series of tweets, he vented his anger over the ‘forced religiousness’ the country and questioned when this ‘ Goondagardi’ will stop.

The controversial tweets of Sonu gave birth to a huge controversy.

After this Sonu was relentlessly trolled and even a FIR was filed against him in Mumbai. However, Sonu clarified on the issue, saying, “When I am talking about Loudspeakers, I did mention Temples and Gurudwaras too.”
