It’s been two days since the winners of 64th National Films Awards were announced. But the controversy over Best Actor title is still going on as a few section of the audience were not satisfied with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar bagging the national award for the same. Similar to Akshay, legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s special mention recognition is also a debatable topic for critics and audience alike. Both the superstars are great friends of Malayalam – Hindi director Priyadarshan and his role as Jury chairman has inspired others to create controversies against both the stars.
Adding to the controversy, popular Tamil actor Arvind Swamy has expressed his disappointment over the Bollywood Khiladi’s national award win for Rustom. The charming actor, who had earlier collaborated with director Priyadarshan for Saat Rang Ke Sapne, a Bollywood remake to Mohanlal’s 1994 hit Thenmavin Kombath, took a dig at Akshay Kumar and the jury for his selection as the Best Actor award.
The Bombay actor tweeted;
” Nanavati case was one of the last of the jury trials in India. There seems to be other good reasons to do away with the jury. Sorry, seemed “.
Film director AR Murugadoss too expressed his disappointment over the National Film awards announcement. The director, who had directed the 2014 Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty tweeted:
“#NationalAwards Can clearly witness the influence & partiality of people in jury, it’s biased”
With the controversy showing no signs of slowing down, we wonder what Akshay Kumar has to say on his colleagues taking digs at him.
