Rajinikanth’s Kaala Karikaalan has started rolling in Mumbai. Produced by Rajinikanth’s son and National award-winning actor Dhanush, the film has been directed by PA Ranjith, who had also directed the Thalaivar’s last film — Kabali. Kaala Karikaalan is touted to be the 164th film of Rajinikanth.
Reportedly, Rajinikanth has reached Mumbai on Saturday and already joined the sets. The makers have already started principal shooting of the film and have already shared a few shooting stills from the film’s sets, which without a doubt went viral across the social media within no time. The film will have one week-long schedule in Mumbai.
One of the shooting pic features Rajinikanth in an altogether different style as he donned a pair of black goggles. He also wore a black shirt and a black dhoti with a gang of 6-members including Tamil actor Samuthirakani. From the photo, it looks like the Thalaivar is threatening a government official with his gang.

In Kaala Karikaalan, Rajinikanth will be seen playing a man from Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli who runs to Mumbai in his childhood and goes on to become a powerful don of Dharavi slums. The film also marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Dhanush. The Kolaveri Di star has earlier bankrolled films like Kaaka Muttai, Visaaranai and Power Paandi.
The leading actress of Kaala Karikaalan is yet-to-be-announced, but there are reports that Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has been finalized to essay the female lead in the film.
