Last Thursday saw the release of Tamil superstar Suriya’s Singam 3 at the Tamil Nadu Box Office.
Directed by Hari and produced by Gnanavel Raja, the action-entertainer marks the third series of Singam franchise. Singam 3 stars Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan as female leads. The film also marks Suriya in one of his most loved avatar, as DCP Durai Singam.
And as expected, DCP Durai Singam is back with a bang as Singam 3 opened to a terrific note at the Box Office worldwide. On its opening day, the Suriya starrer has grossed Rs. 20.75 crore at the Box Office worldwide. Singam 3 also surpassed the opening day collections of Vijay’s Bairavaa to emerge as the top Tamil opener of the year as well.
On Friday, the film dropped a bit and has collected Rs. 14 crore at the Box Office. But on Saturday, Singam 3 gained momentum again and did remarkably well throughout the day. The action entertainer is said to have collected a Rs. 15.50 crore worldwide.
With such huge numbers, Singam 3 crossed the coveted Rs. 50 crore mark in three -theatrical days at the Box Office worldwide, which is huge considering that a torrent site called Tamil Rockers streamed the pirated version of the film online on its opening day.
It will be interesting to see how Singam 3 will perform on weekdays, starting from tomorrow. The prequel to the film, Singam 2, which had released in 2013 was the first Rs. 100 crore grosser of Suriya. Singam 3.
Singam 3 marks the debut of a bodybuilding champion and TV actor Thakur Anoop Singh. The actor, who made his TV debut with the role of the blind king Dhritarashtra in the hit Mahabharata series, essays the main antagonist in Singam 3.
