Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor is all set to shine in Hollywood yet again as he will be featured in a new web series based on a Michael Faber novel, The Book of Strange New Things. The science fiction drama show is an upcoming venture of Amazon Studios.

Anil Kapoor, who put himself on the global map through his previous works including Prem in 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire and the President of the fictional Republic of Kamistan Omar Hassan in 24, was cast by Amazon for the role of Vikram Danesh, an authoritative head of a base on a planet named Oasis.

While Indians go gaga over Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone for their roles in Quantico and xXx: Return of Xander Cage,  the 59-year-old actor will be starring in the hourlong sci-fi series’ pilot based on Faber’s well-received novel. The Book of Strange New Things circles around the life of an English pastor, Peter Leigh, as he travels to another planet called Oasis, hoping to teach its inhabitants about Christianity. Things start to unravel as his missionary venture reveals harsh truths about the developing race and his own people.

The pilot for the yet unnamed The Book of Strange New Things adaptation will be written by Matt Charman, who is known for his work in the 2015 historical drama film Bridge of Spies. Charman will also produce the show along with Andy Harris and Lila Rawlings. The show will be directed by How I Live Now director Kevin MacDonald. It will be co-produced by Left Bank Productions and Amazon Studios.
