Bryan Singer’s X-Men series spin off, The Gifted, drops its first teaser

Bryan Singer, who frequently directed the X-Men films, will be directing the pilot of this X-Men series.

Back in 2000, the X-Men was all most of us knew about Marvel (and . Fox brought to us the first X-Men film and inevitably dialled up the obsession with superheroes. Then, came Marvel with their own movies and TV series while the X-Men, still in the hands of Fox, never got a TV series reboot (and it desperately needed one).

That’s about to change because Fox has ordered a series titled ‘The Gifted’ based on Professor Charles Xavier’s beloved students. The name of the series probably draws inspiration from Professor X’s school, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

The Gifted revolves around a family which skips town upon realising that the children are mutants. Soon after, they have a run-in with a community of underground mutants which changes the course of their lives. Stephen Moyer from True Blood and Amy Acker from Angel, will be featured as the parents with Gotham’s Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White playing the role of their mutant children.

With The Gifted, Marvel has expanded its ever-growing TV series but it will definitely face stiff competition from Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders which already have quite a loyal fan base. Legion by FX and ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are also pretty popular, with Inhumans coming this later this year. Aside from these shows, Cloak & Dagger (Freeform), Runaways (Hulu) and New Warriors (Freeform) have also been ordered and will be arriving in 2018.

The series will be premiere sometime later this year and the pilot episode has been directed by Bryan Singer, who has directed four X-Men films. Here is the first teaser for the upcoming X-Men series:

Fox will be releasing the first official trailer for the series on May 15 so, stay tuned for more.
