Dear Kapil,
Wishing you a very happy birthday. I wish you continue to entertain all of us for a very long time. Hopefully, this day will give you some reasons to cheer about.
The bygone month has not been kind to you. Amid reports of plummeting TRPs of your The Kapil Sharma Show, the fallout with fellow comedian Sunil Grover has made things more difficult. We heard you cancelled the shoot within 10 minutes after finding no response from the audience. There are reports doing rounds that TKSS might go off air after the contract ends in April. It is like a bolt from the blue moment for you. But while your critics are eagerly waiting for your downfall, it’s time to set things in order together.
For someone who has seen your rise from The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Today, you are among the highest tax-payers and will feature in your debut production venture Firangi. You owe me a cup of coffee for promoting your film outside TKSS. But stardom is a dangerous addiction. There are people who will admire your for your success, but you will face more critics in your hard times. But it is just a passing phase and everything is not lost. On your 36th birthday, I have some advice to you and acche din will back for you.
Stay grounded: “Humility is the young ambition’s ladder”. This quote from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar has been used quite often to describe icons who became arrogant after attaining success. Unfortunately, these words fit in your situation too.
Be it Comedy Nights With Kapil or the successive venture, it is a team of comic artistes who catapulted you and your show to glory. An ensemble cast comprising Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Kiku Sharda are the pillars on which the show rests. It is no denying that you are capable of carrying forward the show on your own. But the recent episodes are a strong indication that the viewers are not only happy to see you, but also Sunil Grover as well. His absence is sorely missed on the show which needs no evidence. Grover, who plays Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku bhabhi on your show tweeted an advice to you to stop acting like a God. So, do we need to say something more?
Thing something new: For the past 10 years, you have earned accolades with your comic timing. Your show is a household name and several members of my family admit to be gasping for breath out of laughter. Blame it on the race for viewership points, the jokes by you are beginning to worn out. The world has seen enough of the witty jokes from your tweet to PM Narendra Modi. Also, I strongly feel that the format of TKSS should undergo a change. It has become more of a movie promotion platform. Please do something ASAP before it is too late. If you act on these suggestions, you can and will make TKSS funny again.
