Sony Entertainment’s latest offering Pehredaar Piya Ki has already created a lot buzz over its controversial content. Now as per the recent development, it has been reported that the makers of the show have decided to cancel shooting for Monday, August 28. They took the step pending a decision from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding the show. It is also being said that the government might have taken a decisive step regarding the show following several controversies.
Featuring Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar as Diya and Afaan Khan as Ratan, the story revolves around an 18-year-old girl marrying a nine-year-old boy. The show recently created headlines for showing a ‘suhagrat’ sequence between the lead pairs following which the producer got criticised.

Many have slammed the show for its regressive narrative and even filed petitions against it at the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), seeking a permanent ban. However, at a recently held press conference, Shashi Mittal defended the show.
Meanwhile, the BCCC directed Sony Entertainment Television to shift its show Pehredaar Piya Ki to a late night slot and also suggested to run it with a scroll stating that it does not promote the concept of child marriage.
Pehredaar Piya Ki also features Gireesh Sahedev, Anjali Gupta and Jiten Lalwani among others.
