Popular Telugu director Krish’s last week release, Gautamiputra Satakarni has completed its opening weekend on a happy note. The film which marked the 100th film of Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, is doing excellent business overseas as well.
Basking in the success of Gautamiputra Satakarni, the national-award winning director had revealed about his future projects. Krish had revealed that his next Telugu flick will star veteran Telugu actor Venkatesh as the main lead. The film touted as a socio-fantasy will mark the 75th film of Venkatesh’s acting career.
He also confirmed that a Bollywood film with Akshay Kumar is also in the pipeline. The duo’s 2015 Bollywood release, Gabbar Is Back, a remake of AR Murugadoss’ Ramana was a hit at the Box Office.
However, the Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum director was reticent about which project will start rolling first.
Meanwhile, Gautamiputra Satakarni is doing impressive business at the US Box Office. Written and directed by Krish himself, Gautamiputra Satakarni has entered into the $1 million club in the US. Interestingly, Gautamiputra Satakarni is Balayya’s first film to hit the coveted $1 million mark in the US. In its four-day weekend, the film grossed $1,015,237 at the US Box Office, which is impressive considering the stiff competition the film had from Chiranjeevi starrer Khaidi No 150.
Gautamiputra Satakarni also marks the Telugu comeback of Bollywood veteran actress Hema Malini after a 25-year gap. Jointly produced by Saibabu Jagarlamudi, Y Rajeev Reddy and Suhasini Pangulur, the film is based on the life history of 2nd century Satavahana ruler, Gautamiputra Satakarni. The film stars Shriya Saran as the female lead.
