Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha had another field day at the Box Office as the film raked in approximately Rs 20 crore on Tuesday, taking the five day total to Rs 83.45 crore.
The social drama is having an extraordinary run at places like Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and even the unconventional non-Hindi film belts like Mysore and Kolkata have shown a positive trend. The five-day collections of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha benefited from a string of holidays, with the test of durability to begin from Wednesday as the ticket rates have now come down to the normal level.
Day Wise Box Office:
- Friday: Rs 13.10 crore
- Saturday: Rs 17.10 crore
- Sunday: Rs 21.25 crore
- Monday: Rs 12 crore
- Tuesday: Rs 20 crore
- Total: Rs 83.45 crore
Despite mixed reviews, the film is carrying a positive word of mouth and stands a definite chance to become Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit till date. The Sree Narayan Singh directorial is already deemed a hit and might even become a super hit soon, depending on whether the film can endure an upward trend in its second week as well. Akshay Kumar is on a golden run at the Box Office as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha would be his fifth consecutive Rs 100 crore film, a record that none except Salman Khan (11 consecutive Rs 100 crore films) and Shah Rukh Khan (6 consecutive Rs 100 crore film) have achieved.
The movie has put an end to the dry spell at the Box Office and the trade is now hopeful that things would take a massive U-turn with big films like Baadshaho, Judwaa 2 and Golmaal Again in hope to strike gold at the Box Office.
