'Villain is the new hero': Mohanlal starrer to become India's first film to be shot in 8K technology

No stone is left unturned to make 'Villain' the most anticipated films in Malayalam film history as the makers plan to shoot the entire film in 8K resolution

The teaser of Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s upcoming film, Villain is yet to be released, but the film is creating headlines with each passing day. Directed by Madampi fame B Unnikrishnan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh—the maker of the 2015 Salman Khan blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan—the stylish thriller stars Manju Warrier as the female lead.

Villain is reportedly being made for a whopping Rs 30 crore, which is higher than the budget of Mohanlal’s recent blockbuster Pulimurugan. The makers are leaving no stone unturned to make Villain one of the most anticipated films of Malayalam film history. To make the film even bigger, the maker had revealed an interesting update on the film.

They are planning to release Villain in 8K technology. The technical team has been using a unique ‘Red Camera of Weapon Helium 8K series’ to film the Lalettan starrer. The makers have already roped in an International studio to handle the same along with the popular South Indian cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa. And with this feat, the Mohanlal-starrer has emerged as the first Indian film to be shot entirely in 8K resolution. Even the SS Rajamouli blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning was shot in 4K resolution.

Villain also marks the Malayalam debut of popular Tamil actors Vishal and Hansika Motwani and Telugu actress Raashi Khanna. The film also marks the second outing of Oppam composers, Jim Jacob, Biby, Eldhose and Justine of the music band, 4 Musics. The makers had already roped in stunt choreographers Peter Hein and Stunt Silvia for handling the action scenes in the film.
