Finally, the 64th National Film Awards has been announced, and this time Akshay Kumar has a reason to rejoice. Akshay, who won his first National Award in the best actor category for his film Rustom, thanked the jury members for this honour after the announcement. The award was announced on Friday in New Delhi.
Akshay’s performance in crime thriller Rustom a film loosely based on the commander K.M. Nanavati case has been lauded for “a perfect portrayal of a character caught in personal and social turmoil”.
Excited Akshay, took to his twitter handle to share a video and said that playing Rustom is in itself an honor for him. He said,”I don’t know how to express my feeling now, I am truly humbled by this honor. I would like to thank the National Award jury and all my fans from the core of my heart for believing in my talent. Rustom was a very special role to play”.
Further thanking his wife who has always been supporting to Akshay, he said, ” I would love to dedicate this award to the blessing of my parents and my loving family, especially to my lovely wife.”

Directed by, Tinu Suresh Desai, Rustom also features Ileana D’Cruz and Lara Dutt in key roles.
Meanwhile, his wife and actress Twinkle Khanna also reacted over Akshay tweet and shared her happiness on her Twitter page. Retweeting his post, Twinkle wrote: “I don’t know if I am crying or laughing-emotions all over the place-So proud of you @akshaykumar you smart, humble, amazing creature!
