A mother-son bond is special in many ways. In our Indian families, it is often said that a son is always closer to his mom and a daughter, to her dad. This new short film, featuring Rasika Dugal and Sartaaj Kakkar perfectly highlight this sweet and sour bond. Uploaded on LargeShortFilms and titled as School Bag, the film talks about all the emotions between a mother and her son. It’s close to 15-minute watch and the end is sure to break you emotionally.
The story is set in Pakistan. School Bag shows a kid, Farooq demanding a new school bag from his mother on his birthday. His mother, who initially refuses to fulfill his wish, eventually gives up and buys the same school bag Farooq wanted as a surprise. How a mother feels when she sees that invaluable wide grin in the face of his son and she knows she’s the reason behind it, is shown beautifully in the film.
While Rasika’s presence seems unmistakable, the kid’s performance adds a lot of innocence in the film. Apart from focusing on how the world of a mother always revolves around her kids, School Bag also stresses upon the unpredictability of life.
