It seems Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji is hell bent to blow our minds by offering something we haven’t seen before. After the trailer of Test Case and Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat, the trailer of Dev DD is out. The makers claimed this trailer is wilder than your imagination and it is rightly so. The protagonist of this story is Devika Dharam Dwivedi and she is a rebel and an unapologetic troublemaker.
Devika is nothing like a quintessential girl-next-door that has got glamour industry obsessed. In fact, she is a far cry from it. She does what she likes, breaks rules and in the end, even hurts herself. All of this, without batting an eyelid and without apologising for what she is.
A rockstar with an uber cool attitude, Devika embarks on a journey of drama, heartbreak, sex, self-destruction and unpredictable romantic twists. She quite brilliantly brings to notice how differently society treats men and women. While many girls would shy away from walking into a medical store and asking a condom, or would not quite easily slap their molester on streets, Devika does all this.

Devika’s heartbreak, however, leaves her shattered. No matter how strong she tried behaving, she felt a piece of her body went missing when her relationship ended. In a nutshell, Devika symbolises the millennial girl, who is forced to remain tied to shackles. Only, she doesn’t do that.

Dev DD is directed by Ken Ghosh and it is the re-adapted version of the age long saga. The star cast of Dev DD comprises of Aasheema Vardhan as Devika, Sanjay Suri as Anurag, Akhil Kapoor as Parth. The supporting cast is Deepika Deshpande as Devika’s mother, Suneel Sinha as Devika’s father, Komal as Parth’s mother, Namit as Parth’s father, Haseem as Aruna and Sandeep Pandey as Srikant.
ALT Balaji, will be live from 16 April and it marks Ekta Kapoor’s foray into the digital domain.
