The one who will save the Avengers after Infinity War, and give every Marvel fan a reason to yelp, is here. After teasing with stills, posters and plenty of sound-bytes, Kevin Feige & Co. have finally decided to give us an actual peek into Captain Marvel.
Starring Brie Larson in the title role, the film revolves around an ex-US Air Force fighter-pilot, Carol Danvers, and her journey towards the realisation that she might not belong to the human race after all. The film is reported to begin during the 90s, a full two decades before the events in Avengers: Infinity War take place.
Acting as an origin story for Danvers’ transformation into Captain Marvel, it will also act as the bridge to Avengers 4, where Larson’s character reportedly plays a major role in regrouping (whatever remains of) the ‘Earth’s mightiest superheroes’.
The film also stars Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury in a buzz-cut minus eye patch, Jude Law as Mar-vell (a mentor to Larson’s character). And the antagonist of the film is apparently Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos.
With Captain Marvel, too, Kevin Feige continues to trust indie directors with origin films. After big bets on Taika Waititi and Ryan Coogler paid off, this one has be directed by the duo of Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden – who were responsible for Ryan Gosling-starrer Half Nelson.
Here’s the trailer for the much-awaited Captain Marvel:
Captain Marvel is set to release in March, next year. Brace yourself!
