Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi has become the talking point ever since he came into the world on 20th December. His name created quite a flutter on social media with certain sections objecting to the name, calling it ‘barbaric’ by linking it to 14th Century Turkish conqueror Timur, the Lame. After her husband spoke on the issue, it was our Bebo’s turn to voice her opinion on the entire controversy.
When asked about the row leading up to her son’s name, Kareena termed it bizarre. While speaking to a daily, the Heroine actor said she had no idea why people took her son’s name so personally, which in Arabic means iron. Meanwhile, She told PTI that her advice to Taimur would be to remain humble and ignore everything around him. Kareena said:
The advice I will give to my child is to have his head down, be humble, do what he wants to do and ignore everything else. It is tough in today’s times with social media. But it is the environment that he will be brought up in and we are going to teach him exactly what we believe in.
Kareena’s comments come days after Saif had said the same on the entire brouhaha surrounding Taimur’s name. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he had said:
I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely coincidental… Yes, there were some people who raised some objections but obviously just to look at medieval history and to make value judgments is, I think, ridiculous, and a lot of people have said that on my behalf. I feel quite confident that we don’t live in a right-wing society. As yet, India is still liberal and people are still open minded.
Now that the proud parents have maintained their stance on the issues, will the trollers stay calm now?
