Fresh off her stint in Hollywood with xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, actress Deepika Padukone is gearing up for her Bollywood next. Yet another periodic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika’s next is Padmavati. Also featuring Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles, the film tells a part of the history of 1303. It shows the famous account of queen Padmini, her husband Rana Rawal Ratan Singh and invader Alauddin Khilji.
This is third of Deepika-Bhansali association and her second constant historical character in Hindi Cinema. Deepika was last seen on-screen playing the role of Mastani, a Muslim warrior queen to Maratha ruler Peshwa Bajirao I in Bajirao Mastani. How did she find it challenging? What excites her more now after nine years of a career span in the industry? Deepika says that she still feels like a newbie in the industry and strives to work better today.
The actress walked the red carpet of Lux Golden Rose Awards a night before in Mumbai and said:

I don’t feel like I have completed nine years. I feel like I have just started off. I feel like I have a lot more to give. I feel like I am ready for even more challenging roles and films. And I am excited about one of those experiences because Padmavati is going to be extremely difficult.
Deepika is also glad to know that her debut film in Hindi cinema — Om Shanti Om, is now being adapted as a Japanese play soon. Talking about the same, she said:
They are making it into a play and the Japanese people loved Shantipriya (her role in the movie). The premiere of the musical is going to be in July next year. Most probably, Farah Khan and I would be going together for that.
While both Ranveer and Deepika will share screen space in Padmavati, it is likely that there will be no strings of romance between their characters. The film is targeting November 17 as its release date.
