Rs 1 cr cash, wild animal body parts, 50,000 live cartridges seized from retd Colonel's residence in Meerut

117 kilograms of meat was also taken into custody by DRI which was kept in the refrigerator in 45 packets

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a raid at the residence of retd. Colonel in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on April 29. In the raid, the team recovered wild animal body parts, Rs 1 crore cash and arms including 35 pistols, 50000 live cartridges and leopard skin as well.

Raiding at the residence retd Colonel Devendra Kumar residence at Civil Lines, Meerut, the DRI team recovered body parts of leopard and deer, animal horns, animal skin.

The raid was conducted till 3 am in the morning which lasted for about 17 hours. The animal body parts were kept in a godown made of plywood.

According to reports, the Chief Conservator of Forests, Mukesh Kumar said, ‘leopard skin, horns of deer, head of a deer, head of black deer, horns of black deer were recovered as a trophy from the residence.’

Kumar also said, ‘117 kilograms of meat was also taken into custody which was kept in the refrigerator in 45 packets.’

After the shocking recovery of meat, Kumar further added, ‘the sample of meat has been sent to the laboratory for testing.’

However, the main accused, Prashant Bishnoi is absconding. Prashant, son-in-law of redt Colonel Devendra Kumar, is a national level shooter.’

‘Redt Colonel Devendra Kumar and Prashant Bishnoi have been charged under Section 50,51,44,49 A 49 B of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, ‘ said Kumar.
