A 20-year-old engineering student hatched her own kidnapping conspiracy in Noida and demanded Rs 10 Lakh from her father in Kanpur. Muskan Agarwal planned the kidnapping along with three male friends and asked her father Shiv Agarwal to transfer the ransom amount to her account.
However, the alleged kidnapping did not go as planned by them and the UP-STF busted the plot.
The incident happened on May 5, when Muskan called her father around 2.50 pm in Kanpur. He heard her daughter shouting for help. The phone got disconnected at the time, but soon he received 2 text message from her mobile phone in which he was asked for Rs 10 lakh to be transferred to his daughter’s account immediately.
After this, the Muskan’s father alerted the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force as well as Noida Police.
He transferred the ransom amount from his bank in Kanpur to Muskan’s account. Later in the evening, Muskan called her father claiming she had been dropped off near Pari Chowk. Meanwhile, the police officials who were there in civil dress nabbed the girl and his friend as they reached there.
According to RK Mishra, deputy superintendent of police, UP-STF, said ‘3 transactions took place from Muskan’s account at ICICI Bank in Noida and the cops became suspicious after some amount was transferred to Muskan’s e-wallet account.’
He further added, ‘when the STF teams reached the bank, 3 transactions had been made from the ATM and two suspects — P Anant and Rituraj Singh — had left. But, they were spotted in the CCTV footage. But Anant and Singh were nabbed while they were having pizza at Jagat Farm market.’
The accused include 20-year-old Muskan Agarwal, her boyfriend Aditya Srivastava (21), and their friends P Anant (20), a hotel management graduate, and Rituraj Singh (21), a third-year engineering student.
After the interrogation, Muskan revealed that they staged the kidnapping they wanted to get married but her father was against it.
