21 MBBS students suspended over ragging allegations in Kerala

This came just days after 2 hospitalised students complained that they were made to strip, drink alcohol and do rigorous exercises for hours.

21 students belonging to a medical college in the Mallapuram district of Kerela on 21 December after over 40 junior students complained of ragging by the senior students.

The college authorities had to take this stern action against the senior students after the freshers of the MBBS course alleged that the seniors made them strip and clean toilets of the men’s hostel. The students further alleged that the senior students had even asked them to drink unhygienic water from the toilet.

The college authorities had set up a special committee to investigate the allegations following which the top authority suspended the students from the second and third year.

It is being reported that the medical college may have to pay a huge fine and the repeated instances could also result in cancellation of their affiliation with the Medical Council of India.

This came just days after five senior students

Meanwhile another student who is also undergoing treatment also suffered kidney failure after similar complaints of ragging by the senior students in the college. According to reports, the college authorities had no knowledge of what had happened and only took action after the police office notified them about the entire incident.
